Malaysia Visa by Nationality
Start with the country on your passport. Each guide explains how a visa, the eVisa, an immigration pass and the arrival card apply to travellers from that country.
Malaysia does not treat every passport in the same way. Whether you need a visa at all, whether the electronic route is open to you and which documents an officer may expect can all change with the country that issued your passport.
Nationality is only the first question. Your reason for travelling matters just as much: tourism, a business trip, hospital treatment, employment, a university course and a family reunion each follow a different path. A guide in this directory therefore takes one nationality and works through it purpose by purpose, rather than offering a single answer to everybody.
Open the guide for your passport country below. Guides are published one at a time, after they have been written and checked against the site’s approved records, so the list starts small and grows.

How to Use a Nationality Guide
A short routine keeps the reading useful and the decisions safe.
Find your passport country
Pick the guide for the nationality printed on your passport, not the country you live in.
Read the part for your purpose
Skip to the section that matches why you are travelling; the others explain how neighbouring routes differ.
Cross-check before you act
Run the requirements checker and look at the documents page, then confirm anything important with the Malaysian authorities.
Nationality Guide FAQs
Why is my country not listed?
Only finished guides appear here, and more are added over time. If your country is missing, the requirements checker still lists the items that apply to your passport country, and the eVisa and Documents pages explain the general process.
Is a nationality guide an application?
No. A guide only explains. Nothing is sent to the Malaysian authorities and no payment is taken.
Do the guides replace the requirements checker?
They work as a pair. A guide explains the reasoning in plain language, while the checker lists the items that apply to a nationality and purpose. Both draw on the same approved records, so they are meant to agree.
Does a visa guarantee entry to Malaysia?
No. A visa or any other approval does not guarantee admission. Entry stays subject to checks at the border and to the rules in force when you arrive.
Not Sure Where to Begin?
